Portrait Session and Pricing
My approach on the shoot is to have fun and to encourage your childrens' personality to shine through. I love the private, pensive moments as much as the delighted laughter - so I observe quietly whilst they play as well as interacting with them to capture these different moments. And as much as I love taking beautiful individual portraits of everyone, I think it's almost crucial to try to get at least one photo of the whole family together as this is one photograph that mum or dad can't take (very easily)!!
This shoot is appropriate for photographing your children on their own or you with your children.
What to Expect
Generally this shoot is for about 2-3 hours, but if you can, allow four hours for the shoot. I like to take a little bit of time at the start of the shoot to allow everyone to acclimatize, but I do play this by ear. Some children are raring to go immediately and others take a little time to warm up. So the amount of time i spend with you is somewhat dictated by the way the shoot unfolds. Also this length of time means that we can have snacks and coffees along the way. There is definitely no strict gameplan, we're really just having fun (with a tiny bit of coercion involved!).
In order to have a lovely cohesive look to your photos, it's really good to think about what everyone should be wearing. What works best is if the patterns and colours of everyone's clothing sit well alongside each other. The less busy the better so that we can play with backdrops a bit more. We can have a look together at the start of the shoot if you aren’t sure, but it would be useful if you had a few choices beforehand. Do consider a change of outfit if you would like to see more variation in the images. If we have a mixture of outside and inside shots then maybe coats/wellies will bring enough interest. This is entirely up to you though.
I often try to spot places that I think might make good backgrounds on my way to meet you, be this at your home or a favourite place in London that holds fond memories for you and your family. A mixture of nature and architecture is usually the best for a good range of imagery, whereas open spaces are not quite so interesting, or easy if the light is bright.
If there are any favourite toys/bribes/distractions then it would be good to have those to hand too. I usually bring a couple of tricks for variation and the element of surprise!
We can chat beforehand about anything you are unsure of and to enable me to get an idea of your children and their characters, their likes and dislikes. All of these things help me to build up a picture of your family so that I can make the most of our time together.
£250 for a week end and a reduction of £175 for a week day session is taken as a non-refundable session fee at the time of booking to hold the date. This cost also covers my time on the shoot, careful and considered editing of around 60-80 images, and an online password-protected gallery for you and friends and family to view these images.
All products are priced either individually or as collections. Prints start at £25 for any size up to an 8 x 10” and £135 for a framed wall print. Collections start at £550 and offer savings on the individual prices of products.
